No. 8 Swing-bridge

This bridge provides access to the towpath from the village of Bielby. It had been replaced by a fixed wooden bridge when the canal was disused.

The bridge required replacement and PCAS supplied the additional funds needed to reinstate the swing-bridge. At present the swing-bridge will not open but the missing part – a pintle – should be installed soon, as part of the work that needs to be done to extend navigation to Bielby. The pintle will be funded by a generous donation from the funds of the former Pocklington Canal Boat Club and a local contractor has provided a quotation for its construction.
